Artist's Description

The Chiselville Bridge - The name comes from a former chisel factory nearby, but the bridge was previously named High Bridge and the Roaring Branch Bridge. The Chiselville Bridge spans the Roaring Branch Brook and was built by Daniel Oatman in 1870. At that time, the cost to build this bridge was $2307.31, including the builder's fee. It survived the flood of 1927, which destroyed hundreds of Vermont covered bridges. The strategic placement of the bridge on higher ground allowed the flooded Roaring Branch Brook to pass harmlessly underneath.

About Guy Whiteley

Guy Whiteley

I was raised in northern New York State before joining the US Navy where I became drawn to the technical aspects of film photography. During my travels I learned composition techniques, developing, and printing from serious amateurs and professionals. I eventually became more interested in the artistic side of this hobby and continued to explore more creative aspects. My interests focus (no pun intended) on the out-of-doors beauty of our world, both natural and man-made. I hope you enjoy viewing my images as much as I have enjoyed capturing them.
