Description
Founded in 1393 as a fundamental nembutsu seminary of the Jododhu School in eastern Japan, Zojoji later became the family temple of the Tokugawa shogunate. The wooden gate of the temple remains as the original architectural reminder of the early 17th century and is designated as an important cultural property of Japan.
