The Wurlitzer Building has a long and proud history. Having been a landmark destination in North Tonawanda since 1892, The Wurlitzer Building has endured World War I, the Great Depression, World War II, as well as economic changing events in the 19th, 20th and now 21st century. In the late 19th and 20th century, the Wurlitzer Co. was known throughout the world as a leading manufacturer of musical instruments. Though their executive offices were on Chicago, Wurlitzer employed thousands of people in three manufacturing facilities, one in Tonawanda, NY, which was the world's largest musical instrument plant. Among its many products were pianos, concert pedal harps, organs, phonographs, jukeboxes and electric keyboards. The "Might Wurlitzer" organs were concert grade and were sold throughout the world. The North Tonawanda plant was Rudolph Wurlitzer's main plant, probably because of the Erie Canal - Niagara River shipping and delivery capabilities.
I was raised in northern New York State before joining the US Navy where I became drawn to the technical aspects of film photography. During my travels I learned composition techniques, developing, and printing from serious amateurs and professionals. I eventually became more interested in the artistic side of this hobby and continued to explore more creative aspects. My interests focus (no pun intended) on the out-of-doors beauty of our world, both natural and man-made. I hope you enjoy viewing my images as much as I have enjoyed capturing them.
