7D07161 - The Col. F. G. Ward Water Pumping Station in Buffalo NY. There are 5 steam pumping engines in this massive building were installed in 1915. Each engine has three steam cylinders that can pump 946 gallons of water per revolution which equates to 30,000,000 gallons per 24 hour period. The two flywheels on each engine are 20 ft in diameter and weigh 30 tons each. the 1100 ton engines each produce 1200 horsepower.

No sir, there are a number of smaller electric pumps that now pump water to the city of Buffalo. The city's water supply is Lake Erie. Thank you for your visit.
